The Tourist board recently announced their involvement with The First Annual Turks & Caicos Gourmet Safari to celebrate the traditional and gourmet cuisine of the region’s top luxury resorts and restaurants. “The 2007 Gourmet Safari showcases the culinary expertise of our region. This event is setting the standard for culinary excellence in our country. While the Turks and Caicos is known for its world renowned pristine beaches, augmented by turquoise waters and luxurious five star accommodations. We want to introduce the world to our exquisite cuisine,” says Honorable Wayne Garland. “The Gourmet Safari is something we have been working towards for many years,” says Nikheel Advani, Managing Director of the Grace Bay Club and the visionary of the event. The event, scheduled to take place from December 12-13, 2007, will feature signature dishes from celebrated resorts and restaurants throughout Turks and Caicos prepared by their Executive Chefs and local budding talent. Participating properties include: Grace Bay Club, Coyaba Restaurant, The Somerset, The Regent Palms, Magnolia Restaurant, and Amanyara, Evening festivities begin at Grace Bay Club’s beachfront gourmet eatery Anacaona – recently renovated and expanded to house the world’s first Infiniti Edge Bar. Following a lavish opening reception, guests will travel to the participating resorts for each course with luxury vehicles and champagne butlers. The guests will be enjoying the first course at the elegantly appointed gazebo style restaurant, with a very romantic ambiance, Coyaba. Evoking the relaxed European elegance and charm that encompasses The Somerset’s fine dining restaurant, O’Soleil, will be showcasing the second course. Following, with its Tropical Fusion cuisine complimented by an extensive wine cellar Parallel 23, The Regent Palm’s main dining pavilion will showcase the main course. To end up this extravagant gourmet experience, guests will be transported on the first evening to the Magnolia Wine Bar and Restaurant, sitting high atop with unbelievable panoramic views of the Island. On the second evening, guests will enjoy the elegant, intimate setting of Amanyara’s Beach Club. Guests will enjoy a selection of award-winning wines from Oriel ; Oriel wines are handmade in tiny quantities by the world's most celebrated winemakers. The Oriel portfolio includes wines from two dozen appellations in ten countries and Oriel is proud to be the Official Wine Sponsor of the Gourmet Safari. The opening reception begins at 6:30pm and concludes at 11:30pm. Space is limited to an intimate group of 40 guests with costs per couple starting at $500.
