Amanyara

Amanyara (meaning “peaceful place”) embraces the secluded northwestern tip of the island, bordering Malcolm’s Beach and the pristine reefs of Northwest Point Marine National Park. Managed by Aman resorts, the Singapore-based company synonymous with a discreet luxury lifestyle, Amanyara is the newest resort in the collection and their first venture into the Caribbean. The 40 guest rooms are individual timber-shingled pavilions sited on the edge of tranquil ponds or scattered along the oceanfront. The restaurant, bar, swimming pool, guest library and boutique are centered by a stunning reflecting pool and the intimate Beach Club sits on a dune overlooking the ocean. 33 three, four and five bedroom Villa Homes complete the resort along with 2 lighted clay tennis courts, fully-equipped fitness center, 30-seat screening room and Dive Centre.

The Restaurant at Amanyara provides a choice of dining settings. The interior of the room is divided into two areas, the first open to the sea breeze and the second air conditioned. The open setting steps down onto a terrace with outdoor seating scattered beneath two large trees and views across the ocean. On the other side, a teak deck extends over the central reflecting pool; a particularly serene setting in the evenings. The cuisine offers a selection of Asian and Mediterranean fare with an emphasis on local seafood. Lunch specialties include Caribbean Conch Salad with organic tomatoes, scotch bonnet peppers and lime, Spaghetti with crab meat, olive oil and chili, Indonesian Fried Rice with chicken and shrimp saté and sambal. The dinner menu changes regularly and features such items as Oven-roasted Coconut Mahi-mahi with cucumber pickles, Thai Red Duck Curry with pineapple and sweet basil, Mediterranean-style Steamed Mussels with chorizo, lentils and organic arugula.
